The droppy eyelid fix

I have hooded eyes and honestly, I think the absence of a visible eyelid has just got worse with time.

I used to be able to put at least an eyeliner or mascara on without their being immediate smudging. Similarly, when I blink I can feel my eyelashes in the way of my vision and my glasses get dirtier quicker than they used to. Ergo, all indications are that my hooded eyes are getting worse.

What is the solution?

The easiest (but not necessarily) the cheapest solution is cosmetic surgery. According to the internet (yes, that incredibly unreliable source), the “eyelift surgery” called blepharoplasty is the second most common cosmetic procedure, that’s not usually covered by many insurers.

Remember that I don’t have a medical condition, I am, like many people concerned about the future: how bad will this get in ten years time?

This appears to be a minor surgery (about an hour for both hours) with a week of recovery ( or to be realistic let’s assume two weeks).

What am I going to do?

My first line of attack (is also my only one) and I’m going to use a microcurrent device to lift my eyelids. Honestly, my operating hypothesis is that this is accumulate fat deposits and the eye muscles in that region can be trained to be become more active. In doing so, reduce fat deposits.

The device i am using is a nuface toning device (priced at £315 including sales tax of 20%)

Exercises I am performing are these:

Initially, I will do a short bursts (say 2 minutes) building this up to 10 minutes+. I’ll update this blog every month with a new photo for the next 12 months. You can see the progress (or lack of it).

This is an important exercise for me to perform before I go under the surgeon’s knife.
