About Me

Dear Reader,

At the outset, thank you for visiting my page! To make this experience more meaningful for both of us, I’ve penned down some thoughts behind my starting this blog. I would hate for our relationship to commence with you thinking, “NOT ANOTHER blog on cosmetics, wannabe Twinkle Khanna.

I can assure you I have no aspirations to be anyone else and this is a blog primarily on SKINCARE. I outline five reasons why you should read my blog:

Reason 1:  I am a typical overweight South Asian lady with dusky/dark skin and I’m ageing fast.

I am 35+ and I don’t want to read another light skinned, Westerner’s skincare blog.  I’m not being elitist BUT apart from the age gap, these Greek goddesses don’t share the same skin issues as I do.  I don’t – yet – have wrinkles or sagging skin, but I do have insulin resistance, hyper-pigmentation, uneven skin tone and yes, I have the typical Asian family obsessed with fairness.   I find my body transitioning from relatively fit to “Aunty” mode (love handles, expanding shoulders, a formidable tire around my stomach) – none of which I had 18 months ago.    As I try and slow down skin ageing and become more physically fit, I will share my experiences of what does and doesn’t work for my Indian body type.

Reason 2:  I am on a mission to understand skincare.

I am a certified geek (and so proud of it).  I assimilate information like air and I LOVE research.  I am curious and given time I analyse issues to death.  As I turn my attention to Indian skincare, I can promise you that my posts will be comprehensive, informative and educational – I will do the bulk of the thinking and research for you.  I will cover everything that takes my fancy including but not limited to: the difference in cosmetics which you buy in the US, India and the EU, good vs bad ingredients; cost efficiency of products; regulation in India for cosmetics and skincare; and homemade natural remedies and so on.

Reason 3:   I  have no vested interest.

If I road test a product, I have paid for it and bought it anonymously and I will therefore test it as such – although, if a product contains “bad” ingredients (e.g.) parabens, I will tell you that and won’t test the product.   I am here because I want to be in this space and because the right answer to skincare issues cannot be contained in a Rs 30,000 container of 30ml, when our grandmother’s and mother’s generation had great skin using natural ingredients from their kitchen.    We are Indian and there must always be a cheaper and better alternative…

Reason 4:  My Achilles heel is brutal honesty and I prefer natural, clean products.

I have no social filters that enable me to sugar coat the truth.  This makes me a brilliant analyst but my style is an acquired taste.   I feel as if I should pre-emptively apologise for my purported forthrightness, but really, life is too short and honesty stemming from facts is in short supply.   I’d love to hear from you.  Please drop me a line (email@happyskindays.com) with suggestions on what you would like to read or have researched.  Happy reading.

Reason 5:  I generally disagree with everyone based on competence and experience

In 2021, I enrolled in an International Entrepreneur Program at an Organic Cosmetic Science school.  The modules I will cover include

– Organic Skincare formulation

– Advanced diploma in Organic Cosmetic Science

– Natural cosmetic preservation

– Organic anti-ageing skincare and

– Facial masque therapy.

So, I am not just a pretty face and I have the competence to know I am more often right than wrong.

Warm regards,

Angeli Sinha.
