Cleansing balms are really not my go to product, mainly because at 35 C+ most cleansing balms are semi-sold or a liquid.
However, this summer, I am tripling sunscreen usage and make-up and hence, the search for a Holy grail cleansing balm!
Cleansing balms I have tested in the past are…
Cleansing balm efficacy test
The best tests for any cleansing balm are twofold:
(i) How much make-up do they remove? Especially pigmented, matte, waterproof lipsticks and kajal (black crayon eyeliner).
(ii) How much mineral sunscreen (Zinc Oxide concentrated) do they remove? Zinc Oxide sunscreen can be a nightmare to remove…
How much make-up came off?
How much sunscreen came off?
Would I buy this product again?
I would describe the balm is essentially solidified oil that smells mildy medicinal because of the eucalyptus oil. It’s a pleasant smell.
As you can see from the photos above, it removes mineral sunscreen.
It removes make-up really well because it contains so much oil. When I use it on my face, it does feel oily and I used another facewash (x2) to make sure there was no oil left.
There is no skin tightness, or dryness indicating that it is not damaging my skin barrier.
It costs £7.50 (small) or £16.50 (larger size – 67g) on cultbeauty and it is money well-spent. I will definitely buy this again (and of course its ideal for travelling – whenever that happens! Lol!!)
