Today’s blog is a product review of Wishful’s peel – off mask ( Rose Quartz). I am keen on peel off masks . I absolutely love Sarah Chapman’s Clay Rubber Mask ( See the link), So I have high expectations of the mask.
Look and feel of the mask
As with everything from the wishful range, the packaging is iridescent and shiny and unmistakably girly.
The mask itself is a beautiful , molten, baby pink colour – perhaps what unicorns have for breakfast.
Without a brush application of the mask is not easy. I would suggest buying a brush because you want an even application so that the mask dries out evenly. If this doesn’t happen the mask will not come out in one piece.
My immediate thoughts after applying the mask are :
- It has inescapable vinegary scent
- I ended up using 20% of the contents. That means this 55g mask will give me about 5 applications and as it retails at US $39, that’s about US $7- US $ 8 per application (Wishful goes on sale a lot). That’s an okay price to pay
Observations
- There is no burning sensation during the application of the mask – In fact it starts to cool down after 5 minutes
- The Vinegar scent lingers
- After 20 minutes , the mask has not dried and therefore cannot be peeled off
Would I buy this mask again?
There are a few reasons to buy this mask: its cheap and its results are not bad (see after photos). All my dead skin cells had been removed and my skin felt tighter.
However, there are design flaws in this mask – which are made worse by execution.
What I don’t like about this mask…
– As the mask dries it becomes sticky – you can see the mask sticking to my fingers. Adding water just makes the stickiness even worse. I ‘ve tested fair number of rubberizing masks, but none have been so sticky and difficult to remove
– The mask was not dry after 20, 30 or even 40 minutes. Never leave anything on your skin for that long.
– I had to scrap the mask off with a combination of a dry face towel and cotton. This is one hour of my life I will never get back.
– My skin was dry as parchment. Honestly, if I had managed to take the mask off at the right time (within 20 minutes), it may be that my skin would not have dried out.
– There was no glow to my face.
