What I am buying in the Labour Day sale

It’s past Labor Day, and you are probably wondering, isn’t this blog a few days too late? No, not really because most of the real bargains are not found in regular shops anymore, but are found on discount outlets for luxury products.

Today, I am picking a few things that I would immediately buy from the outnet, gilt, and saks off fifth. Remember that if you live in the USA, free shipping is kind of a given. The rest of us need to aim to get free worldwide shipping which you can do with the outnet, after spending a certain amount. Gilt is mercilessly brutal in charging shipping.

The Gucci bag that looks like a Hermes bag but isn’t

The Zumi embellished leather tote is available at GBP 2,100, which is a bargain

The GIORGIO ARMANI Silk-trimmed metallic cotton-blend tweed blazer

I love this jacket, and I am concerned I may never take it off. This would be a disaster of momentous proportions as I am testing body scrubs this week. Available for sale for GBP 430 outside the UK, so not per se a TJ Maxx bargain. However, it is reduced from GBP 1,211.

The Romy 100 glittered leather pumps by Jimmy Choo

One day I will need these, and if that day doesn’t come, I will wear them every Sunday in the bathroom.  Price on the outnet outside the UK is GBP 290 (with free shipping)

Available at the outnet in multiple shoe sizes

The Dior sandals

I am always concerned when I see Chanel or Dior on sale, as to me, it indicates that the economy really has ground to a halt. However, these sandals are at least a few seasons old and at US$ 900, are not quite the bargain I was expecting, but I do love them.

The Kobi Halperin dress

This brand must make clothes for older people because the fabric they use is always lightweight and some variant of pure cotton or silk. They make elegant but not necessarily sexy clothing. I love this dress, but I would never pay USD 600 for it. At USD 150, it’s totally mine! That’s what I like about saks off fifth – the shop in NY is terrible – but the online store is full of bargains. And given its Labour Day, you get an extra 25% off. I use Shop & Ship for purchases from saks off fifth, as its cheaper than Borderfree.
