At one time, I am (slightly) embarrassed to say that these are the average number of lip products (balms, chapsticks, etc) that are on my table.
Apart from Lanolips, none provided long-lasting conditioning without the need for constant re-application. Personally, that’s every 3 hours or so. I get through a lot of lip balms because I am regularly sipping on something warm or quite literally boiling. Frankly, I am surprised I don’t burn my lips more often.
Also, the skin on our lips is thinner and more prone to wear and tear: this is not rocket science.
Therefore, to prevent my lips from drying out, I use a lot of lip balm etc.
What product am I testing?
Jo Malone’s Vitamin E lip conditioner comprises mainly of petroleum jelly, and the other notable ingredients are Vitamin E (great for your skin) and microcrystalline wax. I used the product over a week
What do I think?
I love this lip balm so much that I am seriously considering throwing everything else in the bin.
The features that I love are:
- For a petroleum jelly, it’s absorbed shockingly fast into my skin, without the need to blend in the product.
- After a couple of minutes, there are only traces of the conditioner on my lips: this doesn’t happen with other products.
- It is slightly fragranced (almost of honey)
- The product uses very high-grade petroleum jelly (it is no Vaseline) and uses a micro-delivery system to ensure your lips are super-hydrated.
After the third day of use, I found I needed to use less of the product, despite continuing to drink my copious amounts of boiling tea.
The lip conditioner is available for sale at Jo Malone’s website or Selfridges. Retail price is US$ 36 for 15ml and I’ll admit that at price, many of you may prefer chapped and burnt lips.
