I am super-excited by Forest Essentials foray into the world of colour cosmetics. It is a cut-throat business indicating FE have the £££ to sustain losses in this new line. However, FE is playing it safe with lip balms and kajal.
How wrong can you go with a kajal pencil?
FE’s kajal is full of (apparently) nutritious stuff and as I am a non-affiliated blogger you can read all about it at this LINK (the FE PR messaging on how great this product is).
What do I think?
Ya. For me (as many Indians) kajal means Colossal kajal. Its cheap, long-wearing and intensely black. Its almost as if Maybelline designed this product keeping in mind the Indian consumer and our viciously temperamental weather. They set the standard of comparison. Other kajals in my makeup cabal are as follows:
The darkest is D&G followed by Colossal kajal. The longest lasting is Colossal kajal followed by Tom Ford’s emotionproof eyeliner and finally, the cheapest is Colossal kajal.
On application
I have tried this product (colour: Charcoal Black) for about a week now. This is a lightweight and the least irritating kajal I have used. If you have very sensitive eyes or are a teenager just starting to use make up, then this is a great option.
However, the product immediately spreads on application as its difficult to get clean lines on my lower lashline.
The “panda eyes” (that is the irrevocable and unhindered spread of said kajal) starts to appear after about 30 minutes.
The good news is that because the kajal is not an intense black, the spread of kajal is less black as well.
I don’t need to tell you or take photos to prove it, but Colossal kajal pretty much stays put, and certainly after the first hour.
To buy or not buy?
On the plus side, the kajal is lightweight and not at all irritating. It could be suitable for first-time users and/or individuals with sensitive eyes.
Personally, I won’t be buying this product, because its rubbish.
The only reason why I am even reviewing it is because its from Forest Essentials. Also, what I haven’t pointed out (and I feel obligated to do so) is that this product came broken….
Available online at Forest Essentials for INR 775, which is honestly INR 775 too much for this product.
