When I first visited India from the UK as a proper adult with real disposable income, this was one of my first purchases from Forest Essentials.
I was so fed up of the sub-standard body lotions that were available to me in the UK that I was delighted with this product.
It contains a bunch of excellent moisturising ingredients (emollients, occlusives and humectants). These are almond oil, wheat germ oil, jojoba seed oil, olive fruit oil, aloe vera, shea butter, glycerin, beeswax, vitamin A, and bala root extract.

This cream is not an anhydrous product – it does contain water and by default, it must have preservatives. Forest Essentials’ in true clandestine style, do not mention what these preservatives. I am just not sure what trade secret Forest Essentials’ are trying to protect. However if FE are going to expand internationally, they will have to disclose such essential information on their labels.
Texture of the product
Its soft and creamy. I do feel it has a slightly oilier texture than Mashobra & Vanilla Body lotion and this is to be expected, as it is a richer product. It is unthinkable for me to use this in the summer.
The smell…
I have been using this product, along with Kama Ayurveda’s Kokum Almond body butter for years. Over the winter months, I have switched to just using this product (as Kama’s product has BHT as a preservative). I will be honest, this is not a great smelling product. It has that synthetic Vitamin E smell, which I just don’t like anymore. It never used to bother me, but it kind of does now. Another explanation maybe I am a creature of habit and am too attached to Mashobra Honey & Vanilla body lotion.
Would I buy this product again?
Yes, I would. It is an excellent moisturiser for the winters, despite my objection to the smell. My cousin sister’s who live in India don’t actually notice the smell, which may just make this a “me” problem. Available for sale at Forest Essentials India online for INR 1,750 (US$ 24) for 200g.
