In deciding whether or not to use a facewash, I apply this quite rudimentary and basic test of my own design:
1) What surfactants are present and are they mild?
The only surfactant present is Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulphate, which has decent detergency action: it produces foam and a relatively good foam. Asians like foamy face wash.
In theory, this should create a facewash that is milder than the dreaded Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), but this is not a resounding endorsement of the product given how strong SLS is!!
2) Does the product have a good preservative system?
The preservative system is Sorbic Acid and Potassium Sorbate. The good news is that they are not harmful even if they are not the most powerful preservatives. I would use this once open for about 3 months – 6 months.
3) Does the product deposit ingredients that help with skin hydration?
In essence I am looking for glycerin, which is not on the ingredient list.
4) Does the product irritate or dry the skin?
I am trying out all face washes on my arm/hand.
As you can see its a transparent gel with a slight orange tinge to it.
This has a very strong synthetic saffron smell and a lesser sandalwood smell. It is quite pleasant and is not like the Kama Ayurveda Survana Chandan pack.
It doesn’t produce a lot of foam but is still quite drying. I would not use this product again just based on the fact that it is so drying and feels as if my skin has been stripped of all oil/sebum.
Will I use this product?
No, its simply too drying on my hand. I cannot imagine using this on a regular basis at all.
Available for sale at fabinida for INR 250.
