This is the fourth cleansing balm I am testing and so far, my experience has been that they (i) can cause pimples if you don’t wash away the excess oil (ii) they are not leaving my skin dry even though there is a lot of physical action involved.
Previous cleansing balms I have tested are:
Versed day dissolve cleansing balm
Glow recipe papaya cleansing balm
Cleansing balm efficacy test
The best tests for any cleansing balm are twofold:
(i) How much make-up do they remove?
(Especially pigmented, matte, waterproof lipsticks and eyeliners (liquid and crayon)
(ii) How much mineral sunscreen (Zinc Oxide concentrated) do they remove?
(Zinc Oxide sunscreen can be a nightmare to remove…)
How much make-up came off?
How much sunscreen came off?
Would I buy this product again?
On a strict assessment of this product, it does not get rid of Huda Beauty eyeliner in just one wash. The Huda Beauty eyeliner is also not removed with regular facewash. Therefore, if you wear a lot of waterproof eye make-up, this product will come up short.
All the mineral sunscreen is removed in one go.
If like me you wear waterproof make-up on a occasion, then this is a good every day product to use, as there is no skin tightness, or dryness indicating that it is not damaging my skin barrier.
Note that unlike other cleansing balms I did not feel the need to use a face wash and this makes sense because the ingredient list contains surfactants (cleansing agents) as well.
I am a fan of Farmacy because of its focus on local and sustainable sourcing. And, this is a brand that has mild products, and that works for me.
I would buy this product again. On cultbeauty this is priced at £24 for 100ml
