Like a lot of folks at home, there are a ton of things that I see online and think, wow, I’d love that. But the pandemic has taught me at least one valuable lesson: I don’t need to spend money on things that I don’t need. I am not in the business of impressing anyone.
Nevertheless, these are the things that are currently on my wishlist.
Pretro jewellery
Prerto are a high-end costume jewellery brand. I love their OTT style. The brand makes me wish I had more Indian weddings and festivities to attend to. These are some of my favourite pieces from the current collection.
Anissa earrings (INR 8,500)
Perle earrings (INR 6,200)
And if you are a fan of pearls…they have these
Evaine Maang Tikka (INR 7,600)
Amrapali jewellery designed for the film, Baahubali
Most of this jewellery is dated, but I love the fact that they embody what I think is traditional.
Gold plated Baahubali Pearl Cluster Tassel Ear Cuffs (US$108)
Gold Plated Bead Cluster Baahubali choker (US$ 147- made to order)
Roxanne Assoulin
This is an American brand that makes jewellery that has grown-up prices but with an innate sense of childlike play. You’ll see what I mean…
Hip-Hop But Not Baby Earrings (US$ 75)
These earrings come in many different iterations and you can mix and match as well!
Flower Patch Bracelet (US$45 – US$95)
If you have never made daisy chain bracelets, you’ll be able to relate the childhood sense of freedom that this bracelet is intended to embody.
Smooth Moves Bracelet (set of five for US$ 400)
These are a bit like Bulgari’s serpentine watch, except less creepy. I hate snakes. I have tried to look up the technical name for this phobia, but inevitably Google search accompanies this with images of snakes. Damn you Google!
Bottega Vennetta Crisscross clutch (AED 10,600 on Ounass)
I never quite understand why Bottega are referred to as the Italian Hermes’ but they are. I love this clutch bag which (at this price point) I have zero utility for. The OTT gold version appears to be limited edition as its not available everywhere.
Make-up that just looks beautiful to look at
I remember growing up the fanciest piece of make-up was an Estee Lauder zodiac compact. In some ways, much has not changed. However, every now and again, I buy make-up because I absolutely love the packaging. This may be the wrong reason to buy said piece of make-up, but I get the impression I am not the only one…
Charlotte Tilbury Chinese New Year special red case (£28)
Tom Ford Rose Prick make-up
Tom Ford makes a break from its traditional chocolate brown casing to make powder pink make up cases.
Rose Prick Lip Colour (US$ 56)
Rose Prick Eye Quad (US$ 88)
D&G Solar Glow Illuminating Powder Duo
Do I need this beautiful terracotta covered case?
Yes.
