Five Forest Essentials favourites

I have received feedback that I am too harsh on Forest Essentials.

I don’t think so.

It’s a brand that sells itself as a luxury brand (reflected in the price, packaging, and the purchasing experiencing) as well as expertise.  The message I take away from them is, “please come to our stores, and our experts will look at your skin and recommend products that you need.”

If you are not sceptical of this whole process, you can end up spending a hideous amount of money as I did.

You can read about my product reviews as well as the products that I did not need to buy at Forest Essential product review: Part One and Part Two.

Personally I am a fan of some of their products, but not all. These are 5 Forest Essential products that I always have.  Even India’s hideously long lockdown has not challenged my existing stockpile!

Velvet Silk Body Cream Vitamin E

₹1,750 or US$ 25 for 200g

With the excessive hand washing that has ensued with COVID-19 this has been a Godsend*.  I am sure I would have got some type of dermatitis had it not been for this cream (and its competing Kama offering).

A little of the product goes a long way.

* I am confused about the precise origin of the word “Godsend.”  A pandemic, the plague, Trump and that evil conniving Dr No ex-boyfriend that should be fed to Amazonian black piranhas are all technically, Godsends.

An excellent alternative that I prefer is Kama Ayurveda’s Kokum Butter.  If you live outside India, Kama Ayurveda does the cheeky thing of inflating its prices. (This is US$ 46!)  I would suggest you use Nykaa, in conjunction with Ship & Shop if need be.

₹1,495 or US$ 20 for 200 g

OJAS Replenishing balm

ojas replenishinbg balm
₹3,800 or US$ 50 for 30g

A reader asked if I could review this product and quite frankly two things have stopped me for doing so.  First, the price and second,  it’s such an enriched product, that I have found it challenging to incorporate into my regime.  I don’t want to try this for an entire week because I am concerned it will cause break outs.

But this is how I use it:  if I want to steam my face – either in the shower or a 5 minute facial steam, I will slap a small dollop of this.  Or if my skin is feeling distressed as it is today after using lixirskin’s soft clay rubber exfoliator, then I will use this.

It helps heal and soothe my skin.

Kashmiri Saffron & Neem face wash

₹1,250 or US$ 17 for 200ml

This is an excellent anti-bacterial face wash owing to the action of neem.  It all has a gentle cleansing action that is essential to maintaining a healthy skin barrier (see how does your cleanser work?)

I use it after my workout specifically to get rid of the sweat.

Mashobra Honey & Vanilla body lotion

I was so unhappy when the brand decided to discontinue the Bengal Tuberose range.  It may be that I was the only one buying those products!

₹1,350 for 200ml

However, I find solace in the beautiful and light fragrance of their Mashobra Honey & Vanilla range.  I love the body lotion and its absolutely ideal for hot and dry climates.   Forest Essential’s have completely nailed the consistency, texture and smell of these products.  This is no mean feat.

Iced Pomegranate soap

₹595 for 125g

These are my two favourites soaps: the Iced Pomegranate and the Mashobra Honey. I am not keen on shower gels because I am old school and just feel as if I haven’t bathed.

What am I looking forward to from Forest Essentials?

The brand is advertising a personalised or customised service on its website and social media. I look forward to reporting on this experience.

My comment section now works!

I am severely technically challenged. Therefore, my comment section has not been working for the best part of the past 12 months. Please leave a comment on your favourite or unfavourite forest Essential products.
