In my previous blog, “How does a cleanser work?” I have indicated that cleansers by necessity can and do, damage your skin barrier. A damaged skin barrier is characterised by some/all of these:
- Tightness (especially after washing)
- Roughness
- Dryness
- Skin irritation
- Redness and
- Itching.
It is much easier to use a gentle cleanser than repair the damage done by a harsh cleanser.
What am I testing?
This is a super interesting product: its a mix of a rough almond and pistachio paste. Its very oily and has honey. The instructions (per the Forest Essential sales person) were to use a small amount on moist skin.
My expectations of this product are (obviously) to clean but not cause skin tightness, irritation or dryness. Naturally, I’ll be comparing it to Forest Essential’s liquid facial cleansers (Kashmiri Saffron & Neem and Mashobra Honey, Lemon & Rosewater), which are both excellent products.

Verdict and would I buy this again?
I really like this cleanser. It has a gentle exfoliating action and smells moderately like almonds. Its a whiff of a smell. The product washes off into a milky fluid and there is no foam.
Personally, this is a once week exfoliator/cleanser as I am not big on physical exfoliation. I am always concerned about the physical damage that exfoliators can do to my skin barrier.
I really love this product and I’ll be adding it to my skincare routine…
Available to purchase at Nykaa or Forest Essentials. Retail price is INR 1,950 (US$ 26) for 30g.
