Forest Essentials Madhu Rasa Gulaab Jal lip balm

This is the second tinted lip serum that I am testing from Forest Essentials. It is made of Rose Petal pigment and you can read all of FE’s verbiage on how great it is here.

The Anar Rasa lip balm I tested was frankly, pretty decent. It had good colour, a fairly inoffensive candy like smell and importantly, was moisturising. Honestly, its not the best lip balm I have used but its also not the worst. This in itself is an achievement, as there are many lip balms in the market and most are misses.

Therefore, it pains me to report my experience with this lip balm. On a good day, I am ok with the smell of roses. My perfumes include Lancome and Acqua di Parma as well as this limited edition Dolce & Gabanna rose perfume, that no one has heard of.

This product smells extremely strongly of roses. Its great for the time when you are a planning a visit through a smelly Scottish bog (that is a swamp) or if you are from a village outside Lucknow, UP and love the smell of meetha paan.

Otherwise for NRIs like myself, this product is a nightmare. It stinks and the smell is unbearable. In the time I applied the product and was taking photos, I started to develop a headache because the smell was so strong.

Even after I removed the product, the smell lingered on my lips for a long time.

And, don’t even get me started with how awful the colour of the product is. If I wanted to buy a fluorescent pink lip balm I wouldn’t pay US$ 18 for the privilege. It would be closer to US$2.

For completeness….before lips

After 10 applications of lip balm…

This is a very sheer tinted lip balm – it barely has any colour and I would say that it really is for very fair and light skinned individuals. Its definitely not the correct shade for someone of my darker skin tone.

Available for sale at Forest Essentials for INR 1,295
