Forest Essentials’ Lip Balm and Lip Scrub

forest essentials lip balm and scrub

I find it hard to suggest lip balms/lipsticks etc if I have not used the product for a substantial time beforehand. I have been using the Forest Essentials’ lip cream on and off, for several months now and I like it. Yup, if you’ve surmised that is surprise in my dialogue, you are not wrong.

I was sceptical, to begin with because the product contains cocoa and shea butter, both of which are shiny on application. My scepticism was unfounded.

The lightweight fluid nature is perfect for the Indian climate. My lips do get a bit chapped in the summer, but not so dry that I need a mineral oil or petrolatum-based product. These products are overkill. This product finds the right balance, which is extremely difficult to do, especially with humidity and heat. Secondly, I am concerned about my lips becoming darker when I use a particular lip balm. (I am thinking of Carmex here, which I avoid like COVID-19 now). This lip cream has no such issue.

My lip cream lasted about a month and half, but then I use it a lot.  The only drawback is this lip cream does not provide SPF. I can live with that. I would completely repurchase this.

Lip scrub

Forest Essentials lip scrub before

This scrub is not like a sugar scrub for the body, that has a lot of sugar and less oil. This is the opposite. There is more oil and less sugar granules – which is great for your lips. The scrub immediately gets rid of the top layers of dry skin, and my lips were left feeling softer. My lips did sting ever so slightly afterwards and that’s the orange peel essential oil in the product.

Key takeaway

If you want to restore your lips to a state of softness and suppleness, then you need to use this exfoliator at least twice a week. You’ll be surprised at how much dry skin in fact peels off during a week. You may want to apply Vaseline before bed – I did. In between exfoliation days, you need to use the lip cream and apply sunscreen. After a week, you should notice some difference in your lip colour as well. My lips were lighter as dead skin cells with the most melanin (dark skin pigment) were removed by exfoliation.

If you go down the route of exfoliating your lips, then to see the maximum benefit you need to do this at least once a week. Otherwise, don’t use the product because you’ll get to the peeling stage and be like, what is happening, this is terrible etc etc.

Would I buy this again?

The lip cream and lip scrub are Rs 1,250 in total. I am repurchasing both the lip cream and scrub.
