Glamglow Powermud dualcleanse treatment

I bought this in the winter sale for about US$ 30 or at 50% discount and it’s still in the sale (see this LINK). In my experience that usually means the brand is changing something – either the formulation, packaging or simply discontinuing the product. I could speculate all day, but I hope its the ridiculous packaging, as the profuse use of “Hello Sexy” in the packaging is viscerally offensive. And the green colour physically hurts your eyes…

What am I testing?

The Mudcleanse mask is a dual cleanser and mask: the instructions are to leave it on for 5 – 10 mins. The first product clay mask/cleanser I used was from Kanebo. The same product is now sold under its sister brand, Sensai. I loved that product and had high expectations of Glamglow.

I was surprisingly not disappointed.

There is very evidently skin brightening as well as reduced redness and tightening of pores in the circled areas. Here is a pros and cons list of the product.

The product has an extremely artificial smell. Its almost as if I am using a cheap deodorant on my face. The skin lightening is due to multiple skin lighteners present in the product. Also, I can attribute the reduced redness to witch hazel and lavender in the product. Finally, I would add that if you have sensitive skin, then this has 2 preservatives (indicated as “crap ingredient” below).

Would I buy this again?

At US$ 30 its a great cleanser/mask for folks who don’t have sensitive skin and who are not averse to strong artificial smells. At US$60, I would not buy this.
