The strategic approach of this product, is to throw everything including the (metaphorical) kitchen sink, into a multi-tasking mask. The minimum this mask should deliver is: hydration, brightening and suppleness/softer skin.
This mask has many active ingredients that directly benefit the skin and by default, there are fewer “functional” ingredients (e.g., colourants, stabilisers).
Instructions are to use at night, as it has exfoliating acids in the fruit extracts (lactic acid, glycolic acid, tartaric acid and malic acid). This ACB fruit mix is almost the same combination of ingredients/exfoliating acids in fresh’s Vibrancy face mask.
If using the mask during the day, please take these precautions:
- Leave the mask on for 30 minutes maximum
- Wash your face with a cleanser to remove remnants of the mask
- Avoid going out in direct sunlight
- Use SPF 30 sunscreen, even if indoors.
My experience
The mask has a moderately strong lavender smell, which may have therapeutic value, but I think its to mask the strong smell of the others oils contained in the product. I don’t like lavender and at the end of 30 minutes, I couldn’t wait to wash my face.
Results
I love the results of this mask. There is:
- Skin lightening
- Removal of dead skins. The difference is noticeable around my eye area
- Improvement in appearance of crater sized pores
- Hydration – not stratospheric amounts, but there is a lot of difference in how my skin feels. Its softer and supple.
Use again?
This is a strong smelling mask – if I was indifferent to the smell of lavender I’d use this at least twice a week for 15 minutes. But the smell is too off-putting for me. Lavender is a common essential oil that Americans and Europeans use and not so much in Asia. Its just to overbearing for our Asian sensibilities.
The product does have essential oils in it, so please store out of sunlight. Also, if you are venturing out, please remember to use an SPF 30 sunscreen, as your newly resurfaced skin has cells that have not been exposed to sunlight before!
