Before that, what do you buy for a Texan friend?

A bullet. Let me explain…Cult Mia is a British etailer I follow and a while back, it had this Texan brand, bulletgirljewelry, in its pop-up shop…they make bullet bracelets, bullet earring, bullet necklaces. You get the picture…

The CEO of this jewellery brand, writes that she founded, ” BulletGirl to be a peaceful reminder that we are all resilient, confident, and unstoppable.”

Codswallop.

You could do that without using bullets for jewellery. I apologise if the display of bullets in the image are piercing your eyes (and soul). Just remember they are (unstoppable but also) peaceful.

Hermès liptsticks

Hermès need no introduction and the brand has finally taken the plunge into colour cosmetics. It is very late to the game, but given how some of the lipsticks are already sold out, its still going to make a shed load of money. The brand has released 5 limited edition satin lipsticks, 5 normal satin lipsticks and 2 matte lipsticks. Available for sale in the US at US$ 67 and US$ 72 (for the limited edition pieces).

Naturally, I am torn between buying this or Clinique’s 10% L-Ascorbic Acid which is US$ 76.50 for a month’s supply.

Also, not to worry, I have found a cheaper US$ 34 option with beautycounter. The shades display uncanny similarity…

Limited edition beautycounter lipsticks

beautycounter is a relatively new clean beauty brand (only 7 years old) and to honour its anniversary its commissioned three lipsticks that are packaged in recycled paper (reducing its environmental impact) and also has artwork designed by an American female artist (empowering women). I think the Fearless Neutral Pink has my name written on it…

And if you’ve ever wondered about the shimmer glow of your make up and what that has to do with (i) child labour and (ii) mica, then please visit their informative page “About Mica” on beautycounter’s website. It really is commendable work and you’d think that bigger brands (e.g., Hermès) would be doing something similar. But then you’d be mistaken

Pat McGrath vs. Too Faced vs. Huda Beauty eyeshadow palettes

Each brand has launched fantastic palettes – Pat McGrath’s Divine Rose palette and Too Faced’s Natural Nudes palette. Both appeal to me, especially the Too Faced palette as I have always struggled to find a great natural nude palette for my skin tone. And as Pat McGrath’s make up is AMAZING, I don’t know how I am going to keep away from this palette…If you buy either, please let me have your feedback…

An honorary mention of Huda beauty eyeshadow palettes

Whenever someone uses #Huda Beauty eyeshadows on social media, I think wow, I need me one of those. Then I physically go to Sephora and try the colours out and I think to myself, I do not know what to do with these. I am intimidated by them. My fear has increased tenfold with #HudaBeauty’s new pastel shade launches… They look beautiful and the underlying assumption is YOU KNOW HOW TO USE EYESHADOW LIKE A PRO. This does not describe me, as I know chimpanzees in London Zoo who would do a better job of applying this next-gen make up than me.
