New beauty products that are not advent calendars

What COVID-19 has demonstrated is that colour cosmetics, especially make-up are taking an absolute battering in terms of sales.  Less damage would be done by Robin Williams in a real-life Jumanji board.

However, the opposite is true about self-care and skincare routines.  This has encouraged brands to go ahead with their launches and consumers have never been more spoilt for choice. These are 5 new/semi-new launches that I am eyeing:

(L to R clockwise: Kama Ayurveda cold-pressed moringa oil, Wishful Get Even Rose oil, Medik8 C-Tetra Intenste, Natasha Denona Glam palette, WIshful Honey Balm Moisturizer)

Kama Ayurveda cold-pressed Moringa Oil

Amongst other things, Moringa Oil is rich in Vitamin C as well as Vitamin E.  Combining Vitamin C with Vitamin E, increases the overall effectiveness of both antioxidants.

Also, having recently concluded that Kama Ayurveda products are superior to Forest Essentials’ products, I am super excited about this product.  (see Kama v Forest Essentials: which is better?)

(To my friend who has been repeatedly asking me to test this, I am sorry, I will soon!)

Available for sale at Kama Ayurveda or Nykaa. Retail price is INR 1,450 for 100ml

Wishful Get Even Rose Oil AND Honey Balm Jelly Moisturizer

I have used Dr Sebagh’s Rose Oil in the past and absolutely am indifferent to rose oil generally.

However, I am always up for repeating the same mistakes (usually with the same guy), so why not a similar product with Huda Beauty? Jokes aside, I am impressed with the marketing photos that Huda Beauty is flooding the market with, but if it evens out even half my complexion defects, I won’t complain.

The Honey Balm moisturizer has an amazing ingredient list and I also like the fact that when it glides on your skin it leaves an iridescent finish.  And if I was to create a moisturizer, honey along with glycerin, niacinamide, vitamin E and sodium hyaluronate would all be present (as they are in this product).

Available for sale everywhere. Rose oil retails at £55 for 30ml and Honey Balm (£43 for 55g)

Medik8 Vitamin C

This is a 30% ascorbic acid derivative.  Its finally, on the sale on beauty websites that export to my region.  Available for £59 (VAT inclusive price) on Space NK, who throw in free shipping after £40.

Natasha Denona Glam Palette

Thankfully, this palette is priced at £60 and not the normal extortionate £100+ palette.  It has all this year’s “in-colours”  – muted glitter shades (unlike Huda Beauty) and a bunch of subtler, matte neutral colours.  While I would ordinarily use this for the overload Christmas parties, that I am usually not invited to, I look forward to wearing this on my Zoom calls.

Retail price is £60. Available for sale at cultbeauty

Jo Malone White Jasmine & Mint leaf

Honestly, this brand had me at “white jasmine” and I am absolutely intrigued about the mint fragrance, so watch this space as to when I do review it.  My favourite jasmine perfume is Serge Lutens a la nuit, which is in a class of its own.  My favourite white flower based perfume is a tie between Creed’s Love in White and Chantecaille’s best kept secret, Petales

Available only at Jo Malone stores or website. Retail price is US$ 142 for 100ml.
