I have started a product test run for a bunch of NIOD products. See the LINK here. Including in this list is Sanskrit Saponins, a face cleanser.
What does NIOD say this product does?
NIOD’s motivation behind this product is NOT to remove make-up (or sunscreen or I guess sunscreen for that matter).
The purpose of this product is to clean bear skin. This paragraph from NIOD’s website resonates with me:
“Today, cleaning — or its unnecessarily-privileged language form, “cleansing” — seems to be more focused on removing make-up than actually cleaning bare skin — of dirt, of dead cells, and of oils. While many modern products remove make-up and surface dirt very effectively, they largely leave the pores unclean of bacteria, dirt and oils. Such products also leave spent cells more intact than even through water-cleaning, discouraging the skin to behave optimally.”

The instructions from NIOD are: use once every other day in the AM or the PM.
My experience
So my first use of this product has caused a minor break-out near my mouth – ignore the cold sore and I apologise for the hideous lighting.
This appear on the second day after using this product. It may be that my skin holds a lot of gunk and I don’t know about it.
I am going to withhold judgment on this product for a few more washes because the product description is very much – we are going to clean your skin .
I’ll keep updating this blog to document any improvement/deterioration in skin condition caused by this cleanser.
