Buying beauty advent calendars 101 – 1

This blog summarises the basics about beauty/wellness calendars from letters C to F.

I have been reviewing advent calendar contents for a few years now and my main feedback point is that the SURPRISE element of a calendar is hugely important, and then the contents and price. No-one really wants to know the full-extent of the calendar contents (except me and 1 person in Florida.  Haha)

What I tell you about advent calendars…

  • £235 for 2022 calendar (2021 price was £215 and 2020 price was £199)
  • Global shipping available BUT note local customs and duties likely
  • 36 products – mix of travel and full sized
  • About 70% of the calendar value is Skincare for the face; followed by Make-up, Haircare, Bodycare and some Fragrance

diptyque advent calendar

  • Not yet out. No waitlist available. Expect an update around 7th October (and you can click here to be updated)
  • Expected price £300+ (based on previous year’s price)
  • Global shipping was unavailable last year – but you can always buy from Selfridges or do Shop & Ship
  • 2021 had 25 products, which were a mix of
    • Scented candles (about 50% of the calendar)
    • Fragrances
    • Body products and some Christmas decorations

Elemis advent calendar

  • Is a “Skin Wellness” calendar
  • £180 for 25 products. Click here to purchase
  • Global shipping unavailable, but Elemis has multi sales points and your best bet is to buy locally
  • 26 products in current calendar
  • All products are from Elemis lines and are mainly
    • Pro-Collagen
    • Superfood
    • Dynamic Resurfacing
    • Frangipani Monoi
  • The calendar has no make-up or haircare
  • Bottom line with this calendar: buy it if you like pro-collage line products, have used them in the past and so on. Otherwise should be a hard pass for you.

Fortnum & Mason 2022 Advent Calendar

  • £245 (vs. £225 in 2021). Click here to purchase
  • ONLY ships within United Kingdom including Northern Ireland but excluding Channel Islands.
  • 28 products
  • Calendar (in keeping with previous years) is a balanced calendar: the most expensive items are Skincare for the Face, but it has a healthy balance of Bodycare, Haircare, Fragrance and Home Fragrance.

feelunique advent calendar

  • Not yet out. You can join the waitlist.  Click on this link
  • Last year the retail price was £119. Can expect the price to be about £140 this year.
  • Does ship globally BUT note that you are likely to incur local customs & duties. Its a heavy calendar so any savings you think you make are easily wiped out
  • 27 products
  • Expect about 50% of products to be skincare for the face, followed by make-up (about 20%) and the rest is a mix of bodycare, haircare etc
