Forest Essentials haldi varnya lepa product review

This is a product review of Forest Essentials’ more expensive face mask range. The powdered face masks are of course, better value for money and can be made at home. However, I do prefer to use a face mask straight out of a container.

What am I expecting with this face mask?

Its critical that any face mask does not cause:

  • Skin irritation
  • Burning
  • Itching

Also, as this has 4 types of turmeric, licorice, vetiver sandalwood as listed ingredients, it goes without saying that some serious skin lightening is in order.

Obligatory before and after

What the mask looks like

My experience of using the mask

Texture of the mask is lighter than a traditional clay mask which is good.

It spreads extremely well across the face, and whilst I have used a substantial amount, you would still get good results with a thin layer.

The mask has an overwhelmingly strong smell: the good news is that it does not last after you have removed it.

I left the mask on for about 4 minutes and at this point it did start to itch and my face started to feel slightly warm.

The next day my skin did feel extremely soft which was a pleasant surprise

The mask did not leave my skin dry – which is always a risk with clay masks

Is there skin lightening?

Despite the poor lighting in my photograph, I can confirm there is no skin lightening. My face is not even one shade lighter, which is disappointing.

Would I buy this mask again?

The instructions for use are peculiar. Your supposed to steam your face and leave the product on for 2-3 minutes. You may get good results initially, but I would never do that to myself because it can cause sensitivity to your skin. Period.

I could see myself using it once a week – its not excessively messy to use and is not drying. The main purposes of a clay mask is to improve surface level impurities and I do feel that as I sweat more in the summer, this would remove toxins sitting on the top of my skin

It costs INR 1,875 for 60g and this would last at least 2 months.
