Forest Essentials Lip Balm Coconut Kesar

Would I buy this product again?

Not unless this was the last lip balm on this planet.

Introduction

I have written so many Forest Essential products, that I am just irked at how much money I have spent at this shop. Honestly, in an ideal world, I should be on a retainer with them. However, there is this slight problem that I would have to change what I write to suit the company’s strategy. Hmm. Hard pass? I think so too.

What am I reviewing?

I am reviewing the “un”coloured or pigment free lip serum (its a lip balm) from Forest Essentials. In the product’s defence it is not as offensive as the Anar Rasa lip balm, which gave me a headache. And honestly, this product does not make me suicidal, so that is a great start.

What was my experience of using this lip balm?

This is as hydrating as you would expect a reasonably good quality lip balm, like Kiehl’s to be. Its not as good as Clarins at all, but its a great first attempt by Forest Essentials.

The golden packaging may also have appeal to an older demographic (because its certainly wasted on me).

However, I am not rushing out to buy this product at all because it smells like fermented (and dare I say, rotting) vanilla beans). It contains saffron and if you are Asian, you’ll know that there is such a thing as too much saffron. It makes this lip balm formidably strong and artificial in aroma, and the taste is like (I would imagine) eating sandalwood (because I have never had eaten this particular wood, tree thing).

And honestly, I don’t like flavoured lip balms, unless they are inocuous like strawberry or something. But these smells fade. BUT not the Forest Essentials’ lip balms.

IF you are totally ok with the pungent smell and have about US$ 20 handy, then sure, be my guest and try it out. Available for sale at Forest Essentials for INR 1,295. Otherwise, consider another lip product like Clarins lip oil.
