Forest Essentials’ Sanjeevani Elixir product review

I have been road-testing this product (see this BLOG) and initially, this was to be part of my evening routine.

However, the great thing about skincare and how it is truly personal to you, is that you can figure out the best way to use a product.

Personally, for me, I have been using this product as a day moisturiser that sits underneath my sunscreen and it works like a charm.

What was my experience of using this product?

Quite frankly, I was completely put-off by the odd formulation that this is. Is it a gel or a lotion or a serum? Plus its this light brown colour. Thankfully, it has a pleasant fresh smell.

The main ingredients are glycerin (a humectant), kokum butter, aloe vera and sweet almond oil. All of these are great for having in your moisturiser. As you can see from my hand the product has an instant hydrating and plumping effect, which is very similar to Hyaluronic Acid products that I have used in the past.

Would I buy this product again?

So the stated instructions are to apply after cleansing and toning. The blurb on Forest Essentials’ website reads: “A light gel-textured pre-moisturizer, it easily penetrates into the skin, while remaining suitable for all skin types.”

As a day moisturiser, I found this to be fine on its own mainly because it works well with my sunscreen (Bioderma’s Spotage SPF 50), which is my primary criteria (at the moment) for using a moisturiser. However, does it impart any additional benefit such as make my skin brighter, lighter or even out skin tone? Absolutely, not.

I will be honest, I much prefer Forest Essentials’ date and litchi cream – its a superior cream and its better formulated. At INR 3,975 (US$ 54) I am not keen on this product, except that it works well with my sunscreen. For US$ 54, there are better moisturisers out there in the market, so I would not buy this again.

Available for sale at Forest Essentials.
