Juicy Chemistry Hair Mask

I am not a big fan of hair masks, mainly because I (wrongly) believe my maggi noodle hair is beyond any redemption.

This hair mask is the second product of Juicy Chemistry that I am reviewing. You can read all about the first product, a body butter, at this LINK.

The product is a “Sacha Inchi, Argan and Mango Butter” hair mask, which is a bit of a mouthful. It is tempting to read such a fancy title and think, wow, these are the primary ingredients.

This action would be folly.

If you are Indian and I asked you to name 2-5 oils that were great for hair growth, I am confident you would include coconut oil and castor oil. Both coconut and castor oils feature prominently in this mask. Other notable ingredients are Argan oil. Both coconut and argan oils are amazingly moisturising for your hair: both help with hair frizz. Castor oil (over time) helps with hair growth and prevents hair fall.

All in all, this has a great ingredient list.

Usage

The mask is semi-solid and this is likely because of the high amount of coconut oil it contains. However, its not anything a bit of warm water will not fix.

The product pumps out efficiently, and I nearly covered my entire scalp with the product. The mask smells faintly of spearmint (which comes from the essential oil).

To remove the mask does take at least two shampoo rounds of a fairly strong shampoo and it did leave my hair squeaky clean (which is not good, as that indicates over-washing). I had to use a leave-in conditioner.

WOULD I BUY IT AGAIN?

My primary criteria for any new haircare product is it should not cause hair loss.

There was some hair loss – which is natural when you wash your hair – but it was not a massive amount, and I am okay with that.

My frizzy and very curly hair was more manageable, and it felt softer, which it never does. (Remember, that the product doesn’t promise to straighten hair or reduce curls, and it does neither).

I am pleased with the results.

I would use this product again – limiting to once a week. I used about 40% of the product and that is my fault. However, I cannot see 75ml lasting more than 2-3 uses and yes, that makes it more expensive than Parachute coconut oil

The product retails at INR 900 for 75ml. (I bought it during Diwali promotion for INR 540). Link to website is HERE
