Juicy Chemistry Rose Water product review

My plan had been to use this product for 40 days, but in the middle of the second week I had to stop using this product because of a slight rotting smell that comes from roses.

Allow me to give you some context. 

As part of my Cosmetic Stability module in my wider studies, one of the characteristics we are asked to consider is the smell of a product.  The “off” smell of a product is a useful indicator of whether or not the product is stable.

For example, have you ever smelt rancid oil?  It has an off smell indicating that the oil has been excessively oxidized and should not be consumed.

Similarly this rose floral toner had an “off smell” which indicates that the product is not stable (and in my book) should not be used.

In my view the most likely reason is that the product should have contained some type of preservative (because it is water based), but does not.  If I were to speculate, I believe that the manufacturer is relying on the delivery system (dark bottle to prevent oxidation and an airless pump spray thing) to preserve the underlying rose water.

Clearly this is not enough.  The putrid and rotting smell is an indication that this is an unstable product: you use such products, completely at your own risk.

And for the avoidance of doubt, I won’t be buying this again.
