juicy chemistry plum and orange face mask

About the brand…

Juicy Chemistry is an ECOCERT brand that uses certified organic ingredients (upto 80% in this product) and therefore, high quality ingredients. Also, the products appear to be cheap as chips (presumably because of the smaller sizes and that’s ok).

As a bonus, the quality of their packaging is second to none. I love their non-plastic laminated paper packaging, and their containers are excellent. (Kama Ayurveda and Forest Essential’s could take a leaf out of their book). The husband-wife founder story is quite famous, and this is a link to their website.

What am I testing?

I am testing an Organic Vitamin C face mask, which is made of the following ingredients:

At least the following are skin lighteners because of their high anti-oxidant properties and high Vitamin C content: Matcha tea, Licorice Root, Kakadu Plum powder, Rose flower powder, orange peel powder and Amla fruit powder.

The rest of the major ingredients are essentially clays, which is designed to draw out impurities, superficial grim and dirt

What the product looks like…

Obligatory before

Obligatory after

Would I buy this again?

The purpose of this formulation is to act as a superficial skin lightener owing to the high Vitamin C content of the product. Thankfully, this formulation does exactly that: it lightens the skin for the 15 seconds that I rubbed my skin with it.

I did experience tightness of my skin but this was temporary.

This product is comparable to the Ordinary’s 100% Ascorbic Acid powder, which honestly does sting when you use it. This product doesn’t sting AND even though the lightening effect is not as dramatic as the Ordinary product, I do prefer this product.

I am not sure I would use this product again (even on my arm, let alone my face) but that is my personal choice.

At INR 975 is a good price for an instant pick me up product. I guess this product traverses the territory between face mask and cleanser because its neither..
