Net-a-porter Beauty Advent calendar

I reviewed the Net-a-Porter calendar based on a number of assumptions.

However, as it has now been released, its time for an update.

• Retail price is £255 in the UK (and appears to be the same in most countries)
• Estimated value of the calendar I have calculated is £1,112, with a big chunk of this (£235) coming from one product, Dr Barbara Strum Lifting Serum
• Worldwide delivery is generally included as is local customs & duties

Breakdown by category

Assumptions: All prices are from UK retail website, “A” is the quantity of the full sized product.  “B” is the price (£) for the full sized product. “C” is the quantity of the product in the Advent Calendar. “D” is calculated as (C/A)*B.  “E” is calculated as D/F expresses as a percentage. My view

I buy one calendar a year and its for my friends in Europe. Its always a close tie between Harrods and this…this is the calendar I will be buying for them.

The products I know I would love are the 111 Skin Rose Gold Radiance Booster, Cosmedix Pure C Vitamin Mixing Crystals and the Decree Eye Mask

Introduction

A beauty advent calendar counts down the days to Christmas. Each box has a full or travel sized product (e.g.) skincare, make-up etc.  Most promise $$$ or £££ savings for a fraction of the retail price.

My aim is help you decide how much additional value this box offers.

My method :  I allocate a monetary value to each item in the calendar starting with the retail price for the largest-sized  product and then adjusting for size. E.g., if a 4g lipstick retails at £20 and a calendar contains a 2g travel size, then the monetary value is £10.

At step 2, I deduct the retail price (e.g.):

The additional value in this e.g., is £300.  You should then, take a cold, hard-look at the calendar and decide how much of it you will use.

Will you use at least £100-£300 worth of product?

• Available for sale by region from the 20th September. If you weren’t paying attention, its important that you appreciate that you can’t buy Net-a-porter products in one region (say the UK) and have it shipped to another (say the USA). Net-a-porter sent out a newsletter quashing that shipping mechanism not more than 2 months ago
• Retail price in the UK is £255 and honestly, these items alone take take the price up beyond £255

  • Omorovicza Deep Cleansing Mask (£72 for 50ml)

Breakdown by category

Net-a-Porter have not given the actual sizes of all the products in their pre-release statement, but we do know there are 17 full-sizes. Assuming even 50% of the quantity of all the products, then the expected value of the products still comes out at £817….

I will post a detailed breakdown when the calendar is released, but for now…
