Ordinary products for Indians

The Ordinary makes its entrance into the Indian market at the same price point it is available in India. This is excellent news for consumers because they can buy the real-deal of the Ordinary, rather than questionable unnamed competitors in the Indian market. Unsurprisingly not all the Ordinary products will be available in India.

Where can I buy Ordinary products?

Currently, Nykaa is your best bet. Here is a link

Is it cheaper to buy it in the USA?

I randomly checked the prices of a few products, and they appear to be the same in India and the USA, which is great news!

Which products would I suggest?

I have been through most of the Ordinary products on my blog OR I have used them in my personal skincare journey.

Therefore this is my curated list based on my experience and knowledge of Indian skin.

Definite buys

No 1 on my list is the 10% Niacinamide. You can read my blogs on Niacinamide here

No 2 are the oils (Organic Rosehip and Argan oil)

These oils have strong smells and are not for everyone. Argan oil is excellent for the hair and if you can stomach the stench, the face as well. I will be honest – I never use Argan oil on my face.

Rosehip has a high % of Vitamin C, Vitamin A and E. The Vitamin A is bioavailable in the skin and promotes cellular turnover. Its not for folks with dry skin

No 4 is the multi-peptide serum for hair density

No 5 on my list is the more stable versions of Vitamin C (12% Ascorbyl glucoside). Read about Ascorbyl Glucoside here

Anti-pollution suggestions

In cities with heavy pollution, the environment itself triggers high levels of reactive oxygen species activity in the skin. The skin has its own set of anti-oxidants, but if you can work the Ordinary Pycnogenol 5% or the Ordinary EUK 0.1% into your routine please do

Price INR 950 for 15ml

Anti-ageing suggestions

If you want to dabble in anti-ageing products, then I would start with the Ordinary and then work my way up.

Good products to start with are: The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG, The Ordinary Buffet Copper Peptide

For acne users

No 1 on my list is the Salicylic Acid 2% mask and he Salicylic Acid Solution

Definite no buys

Would never buy, the Ordinary sunscreen

The Ordinary sunscreen is one of the worst sunscreens I have ever used. Hands-down it is a no. Read my review here

Would never buy clinical grade chemical peels

Ask yourself two questions

(1) Am I a qualified esthetician?

(2) Do I have the practical know-how to use a clinical grade chemical peel on myself in a non-clinical setting? Will I recognize all the signs of burning, irritating that a qualified esthetician would?

If the answer is genuinely “NO” to any of these, then please don’t use the peel.

Similarly, I don’t like the 7% glycolic acid, which constantly gives clients/readers overtly dry skin because its been over-exfoliated.

overtly dry skin use. This constantly exfoliates your skin: you absolutely don’t need it. Respect your skin.

Indifferent

Everything else I am very indifferent too: I dislike the cleansers, hyaluronic acid, moisturisers but this is a personal choice. They are cheap, not such great skin feel and I’m unconvinced that they do anything for your skin.

However, if you do decide to give them a try, please let me know how you get along.
