111 Rose Gold Brightening Facial Mask

I am testing a rubber sheet mask from 111 Skin, a brand set-up by Dr Yannis, a practising cosmetic surgeon in Harley Street, London. This is a single use mask priced at GBP 20 (which is nearly INR 2,000). At this price point and given the excellent result of the brand’s eye mask, I am expecting serious “brightening” from this product.

Lest there be any doubt, I am Indian and “brightening” for me means “whitening.”

Will I buy this again?

I rate the experience of using this mask as excellent. Like Guerlain’s Abeille Honey mask it smells amazing; it’s easy to use; its extremely lightweight, which surprised me as it is a rubber mask (there is no face ache) and importantly, the mask doesn’t tear.

The major flaw of this mask – and it maybe I am expecting too much is, there is insufficient brightening. I am a person of colour and if I spend GBP 20 on a mask, I expect, no I demand that there be serious brightening. UMA** delivers it in her brightening mask as does Sarah Chapman* in her Instant Miracle Mask.

That’s the bar at the high-end/luxury skincare of the market.

This mask falls short. However, its an amazing, hydrating and softening mask – just not brightening enough for me

Available for sale at Cultbeauty. Single-use masks cost GBP 20 and a pack of 5 masks cost GBP 85
