Juicy Chemistry Fig, Vanilla & Blood Orange Body Butter

This is the third body butter from Juicy Chemistry that I am reviewing. After the love-hate review of the previous body butters from this brand, I have a reasonable expectation that this will not be a terrible product.

You can read reviews of the other two body butters at the links below.

But first, who are juicy chemistry?

Juicy Chemistry is an ECOCERT brand that uses certified organic ingredients. This certification allows me to have confidence that the quality of their ingredients is second to none. As the skin is our largest organ, using products that are of very high quality is common sense. Juicy Chemistry’s products appear to be cheap as chips and one reason maybe they come in small sizes. Think Rs 1 shampoo satchets – while you believe the product is cheap, the quantity is so small that they offer manufacturers huge profit margins.

I love the packaging of Juicy Chemistry: their non-plastic laminated paper packaging, and their containers are excellent. Kama Ayurveda and Forest Essential’s would do better if they took a leaf out of Juicy Chemistry’s book. The husband-wife founder story is quite famous, and this is a link to their website.

The body butter

Frankly, this product looks terrible and I can’t pretend otherwise. There is a thin film of what looks like plastic (but is not) and the product appears to be grainy – but its not.

Thankfully, if you rub small amounts between your fingers it readily turns to liquid and I was able to apply this.

What do I think and would I use this product again?

Clearly, juicy chemistry have simple not nailed the sensorial factor of their body butters.

But I kind of don’t care because this product is lightly fragranced and smells of chocolate and orange. It’s supposed to have notes of fig, vanilla and orange – but I just don’t get those.

This is fortuitous because I LOVE this body butter. I have been using it all over my body (every alternate day) as soon as I come out of the shower and I really like it. I can see this becoming a permanent addition to my winter collection.

Plus the ingredients are really fantastic for winter skin. These are butters (shea, mango seed and cocoa) and oils (olive oil, sweet almond oil and jojoba).

Available for sale at Juicy Chemistry for INR 750. I bought this product during a seasonal sale at 30% off or INR 525.
