Tata Harper short-road test product review

I paid US$ 110 for Tata Harper’s essentials Kit, which comprises of four of the brand’s bestsellers: a cleanser (1.7 oz). rejuvenating serum (0.33 oz), resurfacing mask (1 oz), moisturizer (0.25oz). Most of these products (especially the mask) are multi-award winning products.

As you can tell the sizes in the kit are slightly larger than travel sizes and I did manage to get 10 days of twice daily use. My rejuvenating serum has finished and next line is the moisturizer (about 70% used up), followed by the mask (at least 3 more uses) and the cleanser (at least another month of use).

Obligatory before and after photos

BEFORE

I appreciate the photo says “after” but it is taken the day my Kama Ayurveda 30 day product test ended and I started with these products.

Would I buy these products again?

I am not going to lie: I was extremely reluctant and repeatedly hesitated to use these products. (I bought the trial kit several months ago). The main reason being that natural products can be very potent and therefore, can and will damage the skin barrier. (Repeated use of Forest Essential’s micellar water will undoubtedly damage your skin barrier).

Also, when you transition from synthetic chemical based products to natural products, its very common for skin not to be able to cope with the shock. These products won’t suit everyone – fact.

However, my fears were unfounded.

I love this range and my only really bug-bear is that the toner is not included in the US$110 I spent (and secondarily, the smell)>

My other observations are this:

  1. The resurfacing mask is potent – I would not use it more than once every 10 days and definitely ignore the once-a-week suggestion on the packaging. Excessive use of acid based masks (even natural ones) will damage your skin barrier, and can cause excessive break outs.
  2. After the first day, I could immediately see the difference in my skin. It was plumper and looked more hydrated. The folds around my nose had visibly lessened. My skin after 10 days is softer.
  3. The mask (like fresh’s Vitamin C vibrancy mask) does make the skin appear brighter – but this is a consequence of removing dead cells rather than the resurfacing mask containing a potent melanin inhibitor (e.g. Vitamin C).
  4. In terms of experience, using this product is second to none. It really is the Chanel of natural beauty. However, unlike Chanel, you have to lower your expectations and be OK with the natural aroma of the botanical extracts /ferments used. I’d say these products are faint versions of Decelor products in terms of scent.

How should I buy these products?

Like me, I would use a trial kit. And Tata Harper seems to have caught on to this idea as a mechanism to hook clients on. This is a version I found on cultbeauty, which contains multiple products. Is it value for money? No. But it should (like me) give you a good indication of whether or not your allergic to any underlying component and whether your happy to spend $$$ on full sized products.

Available at cultbeauty for £65. Contains the following: Regenerating Cleanser (15ml), Hydrating Floral Essence (15ml), Rejuvenating Serum (10ml), Repairative Moisturizer (10ml), Resurfacing Mask (7.5ml) and Retinoic Nutrient Face Oil (4ml)
