cultbeauty Advent Calendar 2020 product review

cultbeauty’s advent calendar ordinarily punches above its weight in terms of the monetary value of the products it contains as compared to other advent calendars. I know some folk think its “not as good as last year’s” but let’s do some maths before we shut this calendar down!

But, first what is and Advent calendar?

“Advent” means Coming in Latin and an advent calendar counts the days to Christmas.  The calendar is a massive box, with numbered drawers. In the countdown to Christmas, you open a drawer/day and it will reveal a present (e.g.) a candle, parfum, soap etc.

Full list of products is at the end of this blog.

maths re cultbeauty calendar

All prices are from UK website of Selfridges or cultbeauty, so VAT inclusive, "A" is the quantity of the full sized product.  "B" is the price (£) for the full sized product. "C" is the quantity of the product in the Advent Calendar. "D" is calculated as (C/A)*B.  "E" is calculated as D/F expresses as a percentage.

P.S. As Alexander Pope wrote, “To err is human, to forgive divine” so my calculations may have errors. Don’t shoot me, tell me 🙂

Allocation between categories

From the largest to the smallest, the monetary value of the categories is:

  • Skincare 68% (or £635)
  • Makeup 16% (or £155)
  • Bodycare 8% (or £72)
  • Haircare and the £15 charity donation 8% (or £78)

What do I think?

Without doubt, this is both one of the best value for money beauty advent calendars AND I also appreciate the fact that it has a lot of skincare. And remember, I have ignored the 20% Vitamin C by Allies of Skin because I believe its been discontinued.

Note that if you are not that into the skincare products or you find that you won’t use most of the skincare products, then you should seriously consider whether this product is worth your money. The pandemic is taking a toll on the global economy, so be sensible 🙂

Finally, cultbeauty have a worldwide shipping option, which many advent calendar options do not offer.

Otherwise, this is one of my favourite advent calendars this year.
